SEH has gone through many changes since the early days over 80 years ago.
Beginning as a one-person operation, we grew to a two-person, then a four-person
partnership and on our incorporated 50th anniversary and we became an
employee-owned (ESOP) company in 1995. With the exception of a short time
during World War II, we have provided professional services continuously
for more than 80 years. Expanding in all directions from our original
location in St. Paul, Minnesota, we have grown throughout the Midwest and Mountain Regions..
SEH was founded in 1927 under the name of P.R. Banister,
Consulting Engineer, with an office in North St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1934
the office was moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, and our name changed to Banister
Engineering Company. We moved to Roseville, Minnesota, in August 1970, and
on October 1, 1971 changed our name to Banister, Short, Elliott, Hendrickson
and Associates. The firm was incorporated on July 1, 1975. Short Elliott
Hendrickson Inc. was adopted as the firm’s new name on July 1, 1977.
Then as Now
SEH has continued to grow over the years as a result of providing
our clients with quality services and good communication, as well as exercising
concern for their needs. It is also evident that the growth of our firm can
be directly attributed to the individual efforts of our staff. We know and
appreciate the fact that our people are our greatest assets. Our continuing
success depends on encouraging the efforts of our staff and strictly adhering
to the highest professional, technical and personal standards and ideals.
From our founder P.R. Banister who began his consulting firm in 1927 to the team of consultants we have today, our philosophy is based on providing high quality service and open client communication. We provide superior client satisfaction—always.
Over the years, SEH has sought expansion and growth through
mergers and acquisitions of firms which possess compatible culture and vision.
