SEH Names Regional Leadership

SEH currently serves clients from three regions and recently appointed three members of management to oversee regional growth, objectives, and strategic direction:

Pete Carlson
Pete Carlson, PE,
leads the Western Region after serving as the Western Region Civil Leader for the past 18 months. Pete joined SEH in 1994.

 

 

Glenn Schreiner
Glenn Schreiner, PE,

a 14-year SEH employee leads the Central Region Operation. Schreiner previously led the firm’s Transportation Group.
Jim Newman
Jim Newman, PE,

a 27-year SEH veteran leads the Eastern Region. Newman led the SEH Project Management process and served as the Resource Manager of SEH’s Business Leadership Team.

Sam Claassen Sam Claassen New SEH Wastewater Lead
SEH appointed Vice President Sam Claassen, PE, as the new leader of the firm’s Wastewater Group. Sam brings more than 35 years of industry experience, including the design and project management of nearly 50 wastewater treatment, industrial treatment, and pre-treatment facilities in communities throughout Minnesota and Iowa.
Mark Dierling Mark Dierling Named V.P. of Design-Build Organization
The Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) named SEH Project Manager Mark Dierling, PE, as the new Vice President of the organization’s Upper Midwest Chapter. DBIA focuses its efforts on increasing the successful use of innovative design-build teams on non-residential building, civil infrastructure, and process industry projects. Mark joined SEH in 1999 and has played an instrumental role on several highly visible design-build projects.
Norm Arendt Norm Arendt Named WSPE Engineer of the Year
The Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE) named Norm Arendt, PhD, as the Wisconsin Engineer of the Year. He received this honor for his outstanding contributions and service to the community and for his activities within WSPE and other professional organizations that promote the engineering profession. Norm, a safety engineer, joined SEH in 1999 and serves as the firm’s Safety Director. Norm is the first engineer working in a non-traditional engineering field to be given this award.
Ken Conyers Ken Conyers Appointed to Governor’s Panel
Colorado Governor Bill Ritter named SEH Senior Business Development Manager Ken Conyers as one of 30 members to serve on the Colorado Transportation Finance and Implementation Panel. This panel was developed as part of the Governor’s “Bridges to the 21st Century” initiative, which charges the panel with the mission of exploring new ways to prioritize Colorado’s transportation needs and secure sustainable funding sources for a 21st Century transportation system. The Panel’s work began at the Governor’s Transportation Summit this past April.

Award Winning Projects

Brainerd Lakes Regional AirportAirport Project Wins FAA/Governor’s Award. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently presented the City of Brainerd/Crow Wing County Airport Commission with a FAA/Governor’s Award for the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport Project in Brainerd, Minn. The Commission completed the new 6,500-foot commercial service runway, expandable to 7,100 feet, within tight physical restraints and created a very small environmental footprint. The impacts on the 400-acre site remained limited to only four acres of wetland, and the relocation of a snowmobile and cross-country ski trail. SEH provided design services.
LIttle Dry Creek Master Plan and Stormwater detention planSEH Park Plan Receives Award. The Denver Regional Council of Governments named the Little Dry Creek Master Plan and Stormwater Detention Plan a Silver Winner in the 2007 Local Governments Awards Program this past April. SEH helped prepare the plan for the City of Westminster, Colorado’s Department of Community Development. The plan outlines an ambitious proposal for creating a park along Little Dry Creek between Federal and Lowell boulevards that will be adjacent to the planned South Westminster commuter rail station and an 80-acre site identified for future transit-oriented development.


Brookfield Water Treatment FacilitySEH Wins Project of the Year Award. . SEH received a Public Works Project of the Year Award for its Brookfield Square Water Treatment Facility Project in Brookfield, Wis. The American Public Works Association recognized SEH for its building structure design to house radium removal equipment, which contains a removable roof for maintenance and equipment upgrades. SEH completed the project under strict time constraints in order to meet the new national radium standards formunicipal water supplies in Wisconsin.

SEH In SightSEH In Sight Wins Grand Award. SEH In Sight is now recognized as a national award-winning publication, receiving a Grand Award in the Marcomm Creative Awards International Competition. The competition honors excellence in creativity and recognizes the exceptional work of marketing and communications professionals by awarding winning writing and creative design projects. SEH In Sight reaches nearly 5,000 readers.
