SEH Leads St. Paul to Water

In August, St. Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) selected SEH for the evaluation, design, and construction of a new 10 million gallon potable water ground storage reservoir. The project also includes overseeing demolition of the in-place 30 million gallon concrete reservoir at the same location.

Upon project completion, the SPRWS wants a more efficient reservoir facility that will serve the City of Roseville and effectively operate with the other reservoirs on the St. Paul water system. “We explained to the SPRWS that the design of a wire-wound pre-stressed concrete structure is the most cost-effective for ground storage facilities of this size,” SEH Project Manager Steve Campbell said.

In addition to a thoughtful and cost-effective design, the SEH team elaborated on their plans to provide temporary piping to the Roseville pumping station, which will allow the SPRWS to maintain service to Roseville residents during demolition and construction.

Also, the team included a provision that all onsite demolition material be used as base and fill materials for the new facility. “We really tried to focus on the concerns of area residents and identify ways to reduce construction and heavy traffic impacts on the adjacent Roseville neighborhood,” Campbell said.

Construction of the new reservoir will include all the amenities and site restoration services, and is expected to be completed by December 2010. The project will be led out of the St. Paul office by an experienced team that includes Steve Campbell, Don Lutch, Ron Farmer, John Chlebeck, and James Budke.
