The Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin named the Coon Lake Boardwalk that SEH designed for the Village of Frederic, Wisconsin a 2008 Project of Distinction. Janke General Contractors, Inc. submitted the project for consideration.
The boardwalk is 702 feet long and six feet wide and consists of composite decking on treated wood framing. It also features fishing platforms.
It was a multi-office, multi-region team effort. David Carlson (Chippewa Falls Community Development) identified the project and developed a scope of work/contract for the preliminary planning and grant writing. Veronica Anderson (Minneapolis Urban Design) did the project planning and conceptual design, and Dan Penzkover (Rice Lake Civil) was responsible for the construction supervision.
"The boardwalk has been very well received in the community. The Village may be looking to expand the boardwalk which could lead to future work," added Veronica Anderson. "We're very honored by having it named a Project of Distinction and thank Janke General Contractors for submitting the project for consideration."
In addition to David, Veronica and Dan, the project team included Ken Taillon, Jeff Johnson, Josh Kowalczyk, and Dan Carlson.
