SEH received the coveted “Grand Award” from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of South Dakota on Nov. 12, 2011 for outstanding achievement in water resources engineering in Brookings, S.D. The annual gala event was held at the Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Rehabilitation of Underwood Creek, a project designed by SEH, has been selected by the American Public Works Association (APWA) to receive a Public Works Project of the Year award. The APWA presents the award annually to promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects.

Recently, SEH and the City of Lester Prairie received a Performance and Innovation in the Creating Environmental Success (PISCES) Award from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) for its work on the Lester Prairie wastewater treatment facility expansion project.

Recently, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Minnesota Section awarded its 2010 Young Engineer of the Year Award to SEH Water Resource Engineer Jeremy Walgrave.


December 14, 2010

The Wisconsin Association for Floodplain, Stormwater, and Coastal Management (WAFSCM) recently awarded SEH project manager Tom Sear (Milwaukee) and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) project manager David Fowler a 2010 Excellence in Project Design or Implementation Award for their MMSD Underwood Creek Rehabilitation and Flood Management—Phase I project. This award provides recognition of meritorious project efforts to improve floodplain, stormwater, or coastal management in Wisconsin.

In April of 1997, the Red River crested at more than 26 feet above flood stage, flooding East Grand Forks. Since that time, SEH and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) worked together to implement a comprehensive, state-of-the-art flood protection system that would enable the Cities to recover from the flooding and then manage the forces of nature rather than engaging them in an un-winnable battle.
