Dan Rathbun, a veteran food and beverage industry expert has joined SEH as Food and Beverage Relationship Manager in the St. Paul location.
Dan is an electrical engineer with a background in sourcing, project management and efficiency initiatives for companies including Cargill and Michael Foods. In his new role at SEH, he will work closely with major food and beverage clients and prospects at both their corporate offices and production facilities.
“It’s exciting to be part of an organization such as SEH that has the technical resources to help producers deliver competitively priced foods that enhance the quality of life for consumers,” says Rathbun. “What appealed to me about SEH is that we are well-positioned to help clients protect air, land and water resources; meet their economic goals; and contribute to the communities in which they reside.”
Prior to joining SEH, Dan served as North American Operations and Maintenance Team Leader, and North American Capital Projects Team Leader at Cargill, Inc., Wayzata, Minn. Cargill is a global leader in food, agricultural and other markets with annual sales exceeding $116 billion. Dan also worked as Strategic Sourcing Manager-Indirect and Energy for Michael Foods, an international egg, cheese, and refrigerated potato processor with more than $1.8 billion in annual sales.
"Dan's skills are a real differentiator for SEH, as we look to grow our food and beverage portfolio," says Scott Sannes, Director of Energy and Sustainability. "His knowledge of the procurement and contracting processes will benefit us on the front end of relationship development, and in later phases as we implement energy and sustainability projects, water and wastewater improvements, permitting and compliance, waste materials reuse and reduction, and sustainable sourcing.
"With food and beverage companies, procurement and contracting are different from what we see in the public sector, and highly specialized. Dan adds those skills to our portfolio."
Dan, a Wisconsin native, has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's certificate in project management. In addition, he completed the corporate leadership training program at Michael Foods.
