A multi-jurisdictional partnership between a number of local fire departments and public safety organizations held a Ground Breaking Ceremony on June 14, 2012 for the East Metro Public Safety Training Center.
The project will be built to serve the training needs of local fire departments, police and emergency management agencies, and training organizations like Century College. The project facilities will use about 6 acres of the existing 20-acre site. Located just west of the intersection of Highway 5 and Trunk Highway 120 in Maplewood. The facility will follow the City of Maplewood’s sustainable building goals as described in their 2009 Comprehensive Plan, and a critical part of this project is to create and establish a wetland buffer to enhance the overall wetland functions and the values of the adjacent wetland complex.
