Austin Comprehensive Plan

Project Overview

The City of Austin is embarking on a community planning process to develop a new Comprehensive Plan that provides an approximately 30 year guide on a variety of issues that directly affect the quality of life of its citizens. The Plan will incorporate City Council goals and provide direction to City officials, staff, residents, businesses and developers in formulating policies and prioritizing projects based on community values and vision. The new Comprehensive Plan must meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs- that is, it must be sustainable.

The eleven month long planning process will include a range of opportunities (passive and active) for citizens to participate in building the new plan from periodic news letters to community workshops. Day-to-day activities will be guided by City staff with assistance from a Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee comprised of interested citizens, business and property owners. Meeting announcements, interim work products and summaries of committee meetings will posted to this web site for review by community members.
