The City of Brainerd hired the local team of SEH and Widseth Smith Nolting (WSN) for engineering services for their trunk sewer and water main extension project in the NE Brainerd area.
The project is in the construction phase. Tom’s Backhoe Service of Brainerd is the General Contractor responsible for the overall project.
The project limits are generally within Lum Park, along the TH 210 corridor between E Street and the Airport, and along E Street from TH 210 to Evergreen Park west of 1st Avenue NE. The general scope of the project is the extension of new trunk sanitary sewer and water lines from the Lum Park area to the Airport by a combination of trenchless and open cut methods, mostly offset from roadways. The scope also includes sanitary sewer upgrades along the E Street corridor with the segment between 9th Avenue and League Avenue (excluding crossing CSAH 3) involving complete street reconstruction, and trenchless methods elsewhere. No work is planned that involves disturbing the roadway surfaces of TH 210 and CSAH 3 (Mill Avenue).
We are anticipating approximately 8 months of construction, depending on the weather. Work will be staged with work starting in the Lum Park area and then extending east and west. Tom’s Backhoe Service has advised their normal work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, however it is anticipated that there will be instances requiring work outside of this timeframe (especially work by Jack Bore and Horizontal Directional Drilling subcontractors who plan to work Saturdays).
Tom’s Backhoe Service has advised they anticipate starting work the week of April 11th. Final completion is planned for late 2016.
