Highway 7/Louisiana Avenue Interchange Project

Phase 4 Underway

The fourth phase of the Highway 7 and Louisiana Avenue Interchange project began in April 2011. This phase consists of the completion of final design and construction plans. 30% plans were completed and submitted for agency review in July 2011.  Right of way field and title work began in August of 2011. No other right of way activity has begun at this time. 60% plans are expected to be submitted for agency review in January/February 2012. Phase four is scheduled to be completed later Summer/Fall of 2012.

The overall goal of the project is to provide a safe, functional, urban interchange which is sensitive to the community needs while balancing the needs of the regional transportation system.

Public Art, Streetscape and Aesthetic Design

An important element of the design phase of the project is to develop opportunities for public art within the project area. In addition, the project team will design bridge and retaining wall surface treatments and landscape elements to further enhance the project when completed.

What’s Next?

Phase four will continue through summer and into the fall of 2012. The project team is working at the state and federal levels to secure the remaining funding needed to move the project to the construction phase.  If authorized by council, right of way acquisition could begin in the summer of 2012. Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2013.
