Sweeney Lake Total Maximum Daily Load Study

PROJECT UPDATE

MAY 29, 2007

Three Rivers staff has been collecting in-lake data every other week and the inflow monitoring equipment is installed and operational. The in-lake water level gauges will be installed this week. The sediment core samples will be taken this Friday, June 1st. Bernie and I also had a good meeting with Dave Hanson on May 16th and are entering his historic dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature data into a spreadsheet so we can better analyze these data.

Work Completed in May

1. Project Webpage active
2. Inflow monitoring and sampling equipment setup and operational
3. Bi-weekly in-lake sampling, continuous inflow monitoring and base flow water quality samples collected
4. P8 modeling efforts continue
5. Bernie and Ron met with Dave Hanson and collected some good data on historic dissolved oxygen/temperature trends

Work in Progress

1. Non-MPCA equipment secured and installed (this week) for water level in-lake
2. P8 model and BATHTUB model development
3. Review of, and coordination with MPCA on, Quality Assurance Plan for monitoring/sampling efforts
4. Sediment core sampling to be conducted on June 1st
5. Review DO and temperature data from Dave Hanson

Work in the Next 1-2 Weeks

1. Continue in-lake data collection - every two weeks
2. Lake response model setup - BATHTUB model
3. Project webpage updates as information is available
4. Len and Ron to coordinate with Tim Larson on budget modifications for additional equipment
