Sweeney Lake Total Maximum Daily Load Study

PROJECT UPDATE

July 23, 2007

We're pretty much just rolling along with ongoing data collection and analysis as we move through the summer months. Bernie continues to be in close contact with Dave with how the lake looks and to assess the data Dave is collecting on dissolved oxygen (DO). In general, the dissolved oxygen (DO) readings appear to be stable. The delay in sending this update has been from the wait to get a look at the most recent data from Three Rivers. I'll keep trying to get the most recent data and send another update after we have reviewed it.

Regarding the Phase 1 budget, things are going pretty much as planned. I have a call into Tim Larson at MPCA to get more detail on when the Phase 2 budget will be available and what we need to get that contract executed.

Work Completed Past Two Weeks

1. Sediment core lab analysis underway
2. Bi-weekly in-lake sampling, continuous inflow monitoring and base flow water quality samples collected
3. P8 modeling efforts continue
4. Bernie ongoing contacts with Dave Hanson and has review of Dave's data
5. Wrapped up Phase 1A work plan tasks

Work in Progress

1. P8 model and BATHTUB model development ongoing
2. Continue to monitor the DO data
3. Lake response model setup - BATHTUB model
4. Proceeding with Phase 1B work plan

Work in the Next 1-2 Weeks

• Continue in-lake data collection - every two weeks
• Continue to review in lake and sample data as it is available and work with Dave Hanson on his additional data collection efforts
• Continue Lake response model setup - BATHTUB model
