A Project Update for the Week of March 31, 2008

On Thursday, March 27th, Planning Consultant Michael Darrow updated the Winona County Task Force on the process of the Zoning Ordinance Update. The Task Force reviewed new changes to the feedlot ordinance. The biggest change to this section is the proposed incorporation of a Feedlot Board whose primary
function would be to review Feedlot Conditional Use Permits (CUP’s). (Copies of the proposed changes can be found on the project’s website.)

Additional items presented to the Task Force included Agricultural Preservation Districts and Conservation Overlay Districts. At issue is whether to create an overlay district or develop CUP standards within underlying zoning districts. Additional information regarding these districts will be presented to the Task Force in April.

For the week of March 31st, the Consulting Team will be preparing draft language to the Sensitive Land District for staff review. Additionally, a draft agenda will be prepared for the April 16th task force meeting.
