As part of the City's new transit-first transportation policy, Marquette and 2nd Avenues in downtown Minneapolis were redesigned with double, dedicated bus lanes. The new transitway configuration triples bus capacity within the downtown core. The project was designed to reduce stormwater run-off and protect the Mississippi River as well as increase the growth of healthy trees.
