Water Treatment

Whether it is a 20 million gallon per day surface water treatment facility or a 100 gallon per minute well, our engineers address each system’s challenges in ways that are both cost effective and operator friendly.

Recognized as leaders in the drinking water field, SEH’s water treatment experts often begin with bench and/or pilot treatability studies to evaluate the effectiveness of alternative treatment processes. Some of the more innovative and advanced treatment processes SEH works with include:

  • Membrane technologies (such as microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis) to remove pathogenic organisms such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium as well as dissolved inorganic and organic materials
  • UV disinfection
  • Ozone
  • Granular activated carbon (GAC) adsorption to remove trace concentrations of organic contaminants
  • Enhanced conventional treatment
  • Corrosion control programs to reduce lead and copper concentrations at the consumer’s tap

Our staff has extensive skills in the planning, design, permitting and construction engineering of many types of water treatment projects. Having designed more than 60 drinking water treatment facilities in the past 10 years, our experience includes:

  • Iron and manganese removal
  • Arsenic removal
  • Radionuclide removal
  • Nitrate removal
  • Lime and zeolite softening
  • Membrane filtration
  • UV disinfection and Ozonation
  • VOC removal and air stripping
  • Corrosion control
  • Plant start-up and troubleshooting

The background and experience of SEH treatment professionals allow us to provide complete water treatment project services. In addition to engineering design services, we can assist clients with funding applications, permitting, construction bids and oversight. We have the flexibility to adjust our level of management services to meet each client's needs.

From pilot testing and treatment evaluations, through design and start-up of new water treatment facilities, SEH water treatment specialists have extensive experience in providing innovative and cost-effective solutions to a community’s water treatment needs.
