SEH Names Four Leaders to Grow Business in Wisconsin and Indiana

Leadership roles in civil engineering, surveying, community development, planning and landscape architecture and sales practices in Wisconsin and Indiana are set to provide SEH clients with a greater level of service and support.

By appointing leaders to these practice areas, not only will SEH be better positioned to serve clients SEH will also be better positioned to hire more talent in these specialties.

Meet the practice leaders.


Dave Simons leads SEH’s civil engineering practice in the region.

He’s also serving his second term on the SEH Board of Directors. Dave has been helping SEH clients solve their infrastructure challenges for over 30 years. Dave offices from the New Richmond, Wisconsin office, and is excited to connect our clients with the talented civil engineering team he leads so together they can focus on building a better world for all of us.

Dave says the appointment to regional practice center leader gives him the chance to meet and get to know more SEH clients from all over the Midwest.

“One of the things I have enjoyed the most in my career has been working with clients to help meet their needs,” he says. “In my new role, I’m excited to do more of this.”

In his spare time, Dave enjoys sitting down at a nice restaurant with his wife. He also likes activities like bow hunting in the fall and cross-country skiing in the winter.

Dave is married to his high school prom date – they’ve been together for 38 years. He and his wife have four grown children, seven grandchildren and two more on the way.

“It’s a second chance to make a lasting positive influence on the life of a young person,” Dave says of his grandchildren. “I tell them (and show them) that I will always have their backs.”


Keith Kindred

Keith Kindred joined SEH in 1984 and serves clients from our Delafield, Wisconsin office.

Keith has worked with multiple cities, businesses, and residents over the course of his career. He has played a lead role among the surveying team in the area.

Keith started his surveying job with SEH as a “rodman,” making $5.50/hour on a field crew. The rodman’s job entails transporting and setting up the survey equipment used by the crew. Over the years, he’s seen some amazing changes in the industry – from brushing lines of sight and drafting tables to using GPS and drafting in Civil 3D.

“I am excited for the future of surveying as we’re now implementing drones and laser scanning to pick up field data,” Keith says. “These new technologies not only allow us to be more efficient in collecting data, but these processes are also much safer for the field crew.”

Keith grew up in Wisconsin where his family ran a sporting goods store in Rice Lake. The family moved to Waukesha County when he was in elementary school, and have lived there ever since. Keith and his wife of nearly 40 years live only a couple of miles from the Delafield office.

He enjoys spending weekends fishing and hunting with his family. He and his wife have four grandchildren – the oldest routinely joins him in the hunting blind.


Dan Botich leads community development.

Dan works out of the Munster, Indiana office and provides support across the Company. He joined SEH in 2016 and has over 30 years of experience in helping communities grow and businesses expand.

Dan is dedicated to helping communities and private sector clients in economic development and financial incentive advisory. He specializes in assisting public sector clients with land-use planning, economic development planning, strategic planning, capital improvement planning, budgeting and the designation of financial incentive instruments and documents. He also helps private clients with determining local tax liability and preparation of site comparison analyses to assist in the site selection and/or the negotiation process for financial incentivizing of a project.

It’s important to me to learn about and understand the vision, mission and values of each client, whether public or private, in order to provide a service that meets the expectations of everyone,” Botich says. “When a project is a win-win-win situation for the public, the private investor and the taxing unit(s), I have done my job.”

In addition to his role at SEH, Dan is an adjunct professor for Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana instructing master degree candidates in departmental budgeting and financial management and strategic planning.

While he was a student at Columbia University, Dan was a football wide receiver for the Lions, playing alongside quarterback Jason Garrett, who is now the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys.


Randy Sanford leads the sales practice.

He has been with SEH for over 20 years. For the past few years, he has focused on sales and growth opportunities. Randy is in our LaCrosse, Wis. Office and works with all practices to secure new clients and continue to cultivate relationships with existing clients.

Randy’s experience shows as he’s been involved with many facets of SEH’s business including managing transportation, civil, and water resource projects. He has been a part of leading Company growth in the La Crosse, Wisconsin area since 2009. One project Randy is especially proud of is his work designing the City of Madison, Wisconsin’s first-ever dual-zone reservoir project in 2018. The project won a Best in State Award through the Wisconsin chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and a National Honor in Engineering Excellence Award through ASCE. With his new role, Randy is excited to help communities solve their infrastructure and utility challenges.

“I am looking forward to building new relationships with clients through planning and new infrastructure needs,” he says. “I am excited to engage with new people, new projects, and new partnerships that will last a lifetime.”

Randy was raised on his grandparents’ farm in northern Wisconsin where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of building long-lasting relationships. It’s these Midwestern values and work ethic that Randy credits as the backbone of his dedication to his clients’ success.

In his free time Randy coaches youth sports and teaches youth basketball skill clinics. He currently is a level 4 high school varsity basketball referee as well.
