Anoka County has initiated an update of its existing Transportation Plan, which was last updated and adopted in 2009. Residents will have several opportunities to provide input throughout the upcoming months as the 2040 Transportation Plan is developed.
What is a Transportation Plan and how is it used?
A Transportation Plan identifies the transportation system needs and also sets goals, priorities, and funding strategies to guide the County’s infrastructure investments.
A Transportation Plan also enables other public and private organizations to plan their activities in coordination with the County.
Why is the existing plan being updated?
State law requires that Comprehensive Plans be updated every 10 years, and align with the Metropolitan Council’s regional system plans for highways, transit, airports, wastewater services, and parks.
What was included in the last plan?
The County 2030 Transportation Plan can be found on the County’s website.
The County's Transportation Plan will be completed before the end of 2018.
