Brainerd’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) together with the Mississippi Riverfront Sub-Committee, City of Brainerd and community’s public and private sectors embarked on a multi-phase effort implementing the Mississippi River Partnership Plan. The plan identified a comprehensive set of design and development opportunities to reconnect the City and the Mississippi River and create a corridor as a place where residents and visitors can easily access and enjoy year-round natural scenery.
Guided by a 10-member Riverfront Sub-Committee, consultants developed measurable goals, objectives, budgets, priorities, timelines and identified sources of funding to implement design concepts identified in the Mississippi Riverfront Partnership Plan. Additionally, the consulting team worked to keep community members informed and engaged during the process through the use of social media, events, activities and a project web site.
