Mall of America Phase II Expansion

Written by SEH | June 16, 2022

Challenge

It is the most valuable real estate asset in Minnesota, and an international tourist destination. But the Mall of America must continually renew and reinvent itself to match the fast-changing demands of the retail market. When the mall ownership group announced plans for a $325 million expansion of its existing 5,000,000-square-foot facility, the lead design team required specialized engineering services to accommodate increased demands on the supporting infrastructure.

Solution

SEH conducted an analysis of existing infrastructure, provided coordination with multiple local, regional and state agencies; completed the site and roadway design; provided utility connections and extensions; and designed and implemented stormwater management and erosion control features.
