2023 Division Sauk Rapids

Sauk Rapids, Minnesota

This is a full street and utility reconstruction project. The project scope includes replacing the existing street and sidewalks, sanitary sewer, water main, services in the streets, and storm sewer system. Watermain construction will include the installation of a temporary water system. With the installation of the open cut public utilities, you will notice the Contractor digging up the street past your property multiple times. Typically, the Contractor starts with installation of the deepest open cut utilities first. The anticipated order of installations is the open cut of sanitary sewer main, watermain and services, and then storm sewer. Street construction will include subcutting and removal of approximately 1-1.5 feet of existing material and installation of draintile, fabric, gravel, and bituminous surfacing.

C&L Excavating of St Joseph, MN is the Prime Contractor of the project. The street and utility project will be constructed in two main phases starting after July 4th. The project area for phase one includes Division Street from 2nd Avenue to 5th Avenue, 3rd Avenue South, 4th Avenue South, and 4th Avenue North. The project area for phase two includes Division Street from 5th Avenue to 8th Avenue, 7th Avenue North, and 8th Avenue North.

Below is a location map showing the project limits.

To build the new water main, the contractor will need to shut off the existing water system. As a result of this disconnect, the Contractor will be supplying you with an above-ground, temporary water service that will be in place throughout construction. Once the new water main is in place and passes all required disinfection testing, the contractor will remove your temporary service and reconnect you to the new pipe. You may experience small outages in water service while the contractor switches back and forth between the existing system and the temporary system; however, efforts will be made to minimize disruption to the water service.

Please note that some of the concrete repair work will temporarily impact driveway and alley access, or close one end of a street. These areas will not be vehicle-accessible when concrete is being poured and curing. Concrete can take up to 7 days to properly cure prior to driving a vehicle on it. If your driveway is impacted, please park on side streets outside of the project area during this time.

Jeff Supan, SEH’s Field Representative, will be on-site during active construction to observe project progress. He is the fastest link to problem solving because he communicates directly with everyone on the construction team.
