Congratulations to SEH’s spring 2022 Act of Excellence (AOE) winners Julie Linn, Dylan Danielson and Eric Gjerdingen!
SEH established the AOE program to empower all employees to recognize their colleagues who help make SEH a great place to work. Each quarter, an employee-led committee reviews the nominations and selects a winner for each category – Accomplishment, Character and Innovation – with winners receiving a monetary reward.
Below, we spotlight each employee, including their nomination category and why we celebrate them. To capture the sentiment, the description of the Act of Excellence is in the voice of the nominator.
Accomplishment
Julie Linn (former employee)
Senior Scientist
The Act: Julie eagerly volunteered to be part of a fast-track, complex due diligence project on a 130-year-old large manufacturing site and associated industrial landfill. We appreciate her willingness to jump into the project with both feet, work extra hours to meet short deadlines, and produce high-quality deliverables for a complex site. The project was the first due diligence project we performed with a key teaming partner. Julie worked nights and weekends to prepare two Phase I Environmental Site Assessment reports to meet the deadline. She was also instrumental in discussing technical information with various client team members during multiple phone calls. The client team appreciated receiving the documents on time and had no comments on the draft reports.
Character
Dylan Danielson
Technician
The Act: Dylan came on board as an operator of the laser scanner. He was trained how to use the scanner, and within a week, he completed his first scanning job solo. SEH has a client who requires our laser scanning services – a significant scanning project. Dylan took the scanner and left for a four-hour drive to the job site – a site he had never seen before and was very loud and hot. He started scanning by lunchtime and stayed into the evening, putting in over 12 hours. Dylan completed nearly 100 scans, and they all turned out perfectly. He did not have to work so late, but he was committed to finish the project on time for the client.
Innovation
Eric Gjerdingen
Multimedia Specialist
The Act: Eric played an instrumental role in launching the new SEH intranet, which replaced the existing site. While IT supported the back-end infrastructure, Eric led the team to develop the front-end and interconnectivity of the site. Most impressive is that Eric did not know the platform before embarking on this project. He was adept at learning the innovative features to help showcase content and create a positive user experience and led the Marketing Communication team to develop the entire site. While it was a team project, Eric’s leadership, positive approach and collaborative efforts resulted in success.
SEH’s peer-to-peer recognition program allows our employee-owners with the opportunity to recognize colleagues for an Act of Excellence in the categories of Accomplishment, Character and Innovation.
