Challenge
Record flooding caused historical damage to the City and it needed to figure out a way to save residents and downtown businesses.
Solution
The project team designed many unique aspects that helped save the City during high water events, including: an invisible flood wall that could be be easily assembled, a hidden storm sewer gate closure structure, low visual impact stormwater pump stations, and a modular garden flood wall. A road was also raised several feet and the project was designed to be a gathering place for community.
