Challenge
Pabst Farms is a 1,500-acre master-planned development in southeastern Wisconsin, incorporating light industrial, retail, residential and open space. The development is anchored by an $80 million, 1,075,000-square-foot retail food distribution facility. But, existing roadways adjacent to the distribution facility were not sufficient to support in- and out-bound truck traffic.
Solution
The existing two-lane rural roadway was upgraded to a four-lane urban construction. Truck-actuated flashing yellow beacons along STH 67 were incorporated, and a mix of asphalt and concrete pavement was installed to accommodate heavy truck use.
